Gtx 970 games keep crashing

So, when I play games they start crashing about 5 mins in. Doesn't matter what game it is. Always crashes about the same amount of time into playing. This never seemed to happen before.

Had it for about two years.

just that the game itself has crashed but I'll give ddu a try.

it should tell you exactly why the game crashed.  copy/paste what it says

I did try using ddu and reinstalling the drives. When event viewer comes up it says whatever game it is followed by .exe has stopped working. Nothing about what specifically caused it to crashed which is rather odd. Most of the times the games freeze the follow up with a black screen. After that, event viewer pops up saying the game itself has crashed. I'm going to try a mem test followed by a bios update.
