Help me decide

Hey guys I am going to build a custom app in java using netbeans and I was trying to select the best features and color style for it pls give me some suggestions regarding features and the color theme you think of. It is going to be an desktop app for booking movie tickets.

You should have a look at Material Design, it's the currently favoured paradigm. There's a multitude of online tools available to help one devise an appropriate theme, for instance here and here.

 

The only other thing that I'd add is that you should consider ditching Netbeans in favour of IntelliJ.

I would question the usefulness of your app - why a Desktop app and not a mobile app?

 

If this is for your portfolio or if it is for the educational learning experience - that's fine.

 

But I don't know how much of a market there will be for this kind of app, when there are already numerous sites that will search and book movie tickets from a wide selection of theatres. I could be mistaken, of course, but that's just my thoughts on the subject.

 

There are also apps for Mobile too, but there's better chance of traction (especially if you make a really good app), then making one for Desktop.

Do you have the knowledge to tackle a project of this scale? Are the necessary API's publicly available to make ticket purchases via the various big chain movie theatres?

 

It's cool if you can pull it off, I just hope you did your research before you chose your project.

That thing is going to be taken care by our school teachers as it is just for our experience they will help us too. But please give me some help about the various features I can use with basic java .
