Dxtory big fps drop while recording DayZ but not with BF4. (BF4 is using more of my PC however)

RoryLogue

Hi, when I record BF4, my fps drop is 5-10 at most, however with dayz I normally average 70-120fps and when recording with dxtory i drop to 50/60 but it doesn't feel smooth, it feels like there is stuttering compared with normal 50/60fps if anyone understands.

BF4 uses way more RAM+CPU usage while recording, however my dayz performance hangs below 60fps and feels very choppy, what could it be?

I'm using the settings for dxtory from jackfrags video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw6YAoai8fQ

Specs:

i7 4770k

16gb ram

windows 8.1

GTX 780

DayZ is on a SSD and BF4 is on a HDD. I record to the HDD.

Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Any help appreciated

Why aren't you using Shadowplay?

thats why you use it for RAW footage then edit :D also, it will autoset for best quality and no lagg cause it optimizes the game :3

What she said. Edit the raw stuff and mash it and manipulate is all you like.

your joking <.< 5% MAX performance hit, auto changes the in game quality for best image quality to match the FPS (1-144fps) Also you can do upscaling for the game res which looks sexy as F##K

Skype is recorded but you will have to record your own audio and sync it with the shadowplay recording.

Setup: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz, Corsair H100i Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Ram @ 1600 Mhz, MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard, Corsair GS700 2013 edition PSU, MSI GTX 770 Lightning, Samsung EVO 120 SSD + 2TB&1TB Seagate Barracudas, BenQ XL2411T Monitor, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones + AntLion ModMic 4.0

You stated FULL QUALITY.

Other audio sources does not imply quality of the video. You can separately record other audio sources then compile them with the RAW footage.

yes, but i'm not sure if it stops working with dayz, the profiles for each game might be changing in dxtory? idk. it should be BF4 getting a big performance hit, but it isnt.

I need some more information.

Are you recording to a different drive than what you're game is located?

What quality are you recording on?

What FPS are you recording?

You can possibly set a cpu affinity for dxtory to use more threads but this is just a guess.

Try some other settings like hyperthreading etc.

Could you do a Dxtory write speed benchmark for me?

You can do one under the "Folder" tab and clicking on the device you're recording to. Next to the destination is a little speedomiter.

If you click that you can benchmark your drive to make sure you have enough write speed to store the clip.

It is extremely hard to diagnose issues without being at the computer in question

I'm not gonna keep slamming you with it but shadowplay is a good and bad idea - the visual quality is awesome but like others have said you may have to mix audio in and it does record in variable framerates

what I would ask you to do is to monitor your task manager while playing and try to see what is hogging up system resources

just tried shadowplay, the performance hit is minimal, i'd just love to record my own voice in-sync than using another program at once.

thanks for replying slick, I AM HONOURED
