halp with CPU choice

Okay, I´ve built a few PCs, not too many, but a few. Only once built for my self though, the rig I use now. 

Since then, plenty of new CPUs have been released, and my understanding of CPUs have increased by a metric shitton. Not by such a degree that I can decide which one I want though.

 

Anyone that might be of help that knows CPUs better than me?

 

Only use it for gaming and softcore networkdesign, so nothing fancy in that matter. 

Already have a mobo, LGA 1151 socket, so intel plez

have a budget of like 250€ or something, around 300$ for any americans.

 

Any help for a helpless pleb? <3

6600k or 6700k are still great overclockers and great buys, should be cheaper than a 7700k or 7600k.

Maybe get an i5 7600 / 7600k, used i7 6700 from ebay which goes from 250 € and up or sell your LGA 1151 motherboard and get AM4 motherboard and a Ryzen 5 CPU.

The i5-7600K should work fine. You could get the i7-7700K if you want hyperthreading.

Used 6700.  Mainly because I don't know what model motherboard you have, and it would be a waste of money to buy am unlocked CPU if you don't have a Z170 or Z270 mobo

Update: Just realized I posted this on the wrong subchannel perhaps! Thanks for all the respons!

 

Also, motherboard is an Asus ROG Strix Z270E, mostly because it looked good, supported overclocking and was at a correct price range.

 

Overclocking is going to happen, didn´t buy a Corsair h100i V2 without reason ^^

Given your motherboard and cooler, just get the 7700k.

Yep.  With you motherboard and cooler, grab a 7700k, crank it to 5.0GHz, and watch the frames fly.  If it get's too hot delid it.
