I recently updated my drivers to Crimson ReLive 17.7.2 and since then my gpu has been heating up way more than it had before. Is there a possible connection between the two or could it be something else. I reached up to 94 C while playing Black Ops 3. I even had to put a desk fan pointing at my case to bring it down to 81 C. Also, when I rolled back the driver I only ran into other issues so I downloaded the newest again...

full system spec? 

- have you tried undervolting? 

- replacing the thermal paste? 

- getting more case fans for better airflow

Not sure what undervolting is.

Haven't tried replacing thermal paste but I've thought about it

And the issue only happened after the driver update so I don't think it's related to the case fans.

check the fan curve. If you haven't overclocked the card and the driver is all you changed, then it's probably the fans. If that doesnt help, then maybe turn up all the system fans or even take the card apart and change the thermal paste soon.

The fan speed is at 100% on MSI Afterburner

A card heating up that much all of a sudden has to be a software thing. Or the cooler or physical fans suddenly aren't doing their job. 

 

Is it overclocked at all? Does it show that the GPU fan speed is 100% in the graph?

I dont overclock no. And yeah it does. I've had it close to 2 years by now and I got it new. And before doing the driver updates my temps were below 80 mostly sitting around 75. I did the updates at night and the next day when i get on to play I'm suddenly hitting 80-94 all the time.

open msi afterburner. Go to the fan and unclick auto and then slide your gpu fan to 100% and click apply. Game a little bit and see how the temps are. If they are still bad then its one of three things. The driver is shit or your fans/cooler sint working.

 

Make sure you minimize it instead of closing it too.

Amd Fucked up the newest drivers dude. My crossfire setup is now utterly broken thanks to those drivers. they destroyed the performance and stuff on all the gpu's

@Kulak It could be your thermal paste no longer transferring heat from the gpu to the gpu cooler if the maxed fans dont help with cooling

Crazy how it makes such a big difference. Playing at 68-72C with the 17.7.1 driver version. I guess I'll just have to wait till they fix the issue. Also I have some other friends who are experiencing other issues ever since the new drivers. Thank you everyone who helped.
