Retailers can offer discounts whenever they want. If you're asking about Intel's MSRP for the i7-7700K, I doubt it will ever change.

Im about to get all the parts for my pc soon, so I'm wondering whether the i7-7700k's price will drop again or not (for whatever reason).

Thank you! ;)

I highly doubt it, the 6700K is still the same price it was at launch and the same as a 7700K is now.

Haha, I went to my local Computer centre and saw a price list for CPUs

Funny enough, 6700k is a tad bit more expensive than 7700k

What games do you play and how good are you?

That's random. Btw Im using a Mac so no Windows, tho I have windows games in my steam library.

Multiplayer :

CS:GO - No Rank

Gmod

Rust - I don't play that much because of Mac limitations (Low Fps)

TF2 - haven't played for 1.5 months

Rocket League - Haven't tried comp yet

Insurgency

Singleplayer / Co-op :

Portal 2

Ravenfield

Clustertruck

Windows games (Haven't had a chance to play):

GTA V

Payday 2

R6S

That's that

If the 8700k drops and is compatible with the 1151 z170-270 boards you can expect a ton of stupidly cheap used 7700k's for sale mine included.

I personally would wait and see if the rumors surrounding Coffe Lake bear any merit, if they do you will prob be able to snag yourself a perfectly fine used 7700k for under 250$ most likely.

Unless you're going to buy a 144 Hz monitor there's no reason to shell out for the 7700k. Go with a Ryzen 1600 or 1200 and use the money saved on a better graphics card or peripherals(Keyboard, mouse, headphones).

Nope, not at all.

The 8700k is supposedly being released the 2nd half of 2017. If you can wait 1-3  more months that is, you should see some fairly cheap 7700k on ebay.

If you are very good, as in the top 1% of players, the higher framerates even if not displayed theoretically give you an advantage on the input side for a multiplayer FPS. But to take advantage of such a thing you'd have to be very, very good. Otherwise its not remotely worth it.
