There's a guy on Kijiji who has a GTX 970 up for $250 Canadian.

I'm pretty confident I can sell my 290X for $300.

It looks like I will be losing anywhere from 5-10% performance...which isn't the biggest deal in the world...but would it be worth it? The biggest gripe I have with my 290X is the noise and heat output, and I was wondering if losing the performance was worth the 50 bucks and the reduced noise/heat.

I mainly play Overwatch (Nvidia-optimized game), the occasional TW: WH, and...Subnautica? I will be looking to get into Battlefront 2 later in the year.

Spoiler

I put up my 290X during the mining craze for some ridiculous prices, and I have pretty much been lowering the price ever since (I can still sell it for more than what I bought it for). A guy was willing to buy it at $350, so I started to look for replacement card options and stumbled across this one (but the guy wanted it shipped, so I passed on the offer). I know the 970 will basically be a downgrade in FPS, but I want to know if its other characteristics and the price will make it worth swapping.

Night Fury 2.0:

i would sell it and spend another 20-50$ to get a 1070 when they go back on sale

On your profile, you said you have a GU257HU. I'm assuming you meant the G257HU? So you also have a 1440p monitor. What games do you play? I'm fine with high-medium settings.

Also, it's quiet, right?

I don't want to sound pushy here, but if you are weary of hardwareswap just use goods and services on paypal. It protects both the buyer and seller. All my transactions there are through paypal.

I've already had a guy offer to buy the card on the condition that I ship it to him. I just don't wanna go through the hassle of having to ship and also risking getting scammed. I've already made a thread on this, and I have made my decision.

Just throwing it out there.

On Newegg you can get a 3GB GTX 1060 for about 230USD shipped right now. A GTX 1060 is about 12% faster than a GTX 970. (according to a benchmark site I just looked at)

Just a thought.

Cheapest one I can find in Canada is 277.99 with taxes and shipping.

A 970 has 0.5GB more memory than a 3 gig 1060 xD
