This is my set up, when I am playing rust or any game I have unexpectedly low fps for my pc specs. 20-60 fps which is very surprising.
I have updated drivers and bios, I can't understand what is happening and I have no idea how can I fix it.
I am thinking about changing my motherboard. Because I think it might be causing the problem, but do you guys have any advice

MSI - B350 PC MATE

Common MSI issue. Check you don't have the bug forcing your CPU to be at 1.55GHz. (Use monitoring software to check)

You've successfully diagnosed this yourself. MSI's ryzen boards are shit and riddled with issues. They pop up on the forum every day. I knew you had an MSI board before reading it.

Or it could just be Rust being Rust.

Don't really see why the motherboard would be an issue.

Rust is pretty odd like that. One minute you're flying 60+FPS and the other you're crawling at 15.

Could you stop pointlessly bashing MSI's boards without legitimate information?

I'd be getting similarly lower performance if it had anything to do with the board itsef.

Yeah you have proved my point I guessed right 1st time around. I don't know the specific solution to the bug.

Try the following:

Reflash the latest BIOS.

Load optimised defaults

Try again

(don't overclock anything until you confirm stock is functioning correctly)

Ideally a different manufacturer :P otherwise see above/try reddit. I see this issue a lot on reddit but can't link you from this pc.

@revsilverspine #CalledIt

It's not a bug, it's actually a bad overclock and the board is keeping itself alive.

1. Was I not right this was limited to MSI? Yes I was.

2. Did I not just tell him to do exactly this? Yes I did. Don't get butthurt with me because their boards are garbage.

3. Spot on diagnosis 1st post without further info. Think that's a new personal best :P

4. There are more recent posts (this one) and others I see them here and on reddit every few days

Just because a couple older bios versions were buggy it doesn't mean their boards are garbage.

OP is on a current BIOS so clearly the issue is still present.

When I can guess the solution before entering the thread it indicates at least to me that the boards are crap.

@Rushton If you can't resolve your issue and are still within your retailers return period just initiate a refund and buy from literally any other manufacturer.
