Online Shopping

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

Use trusted sites and services and you're pretty much safe. Set up PayPal and use it whenever you can, it prevents the need to give your card details to different places and they're very good at getting your money back in the event you do get scammed or someone uses the PayPal account without your permission.

EDIT: You can get most things off Amazon now days, so I'd advise checking that first for things. Also, if you're looking for computer parts, all of the sites that show up on PC Part Picker should be verified and trusted, so they're fine to use.

I have gotten a card visa, and i am bit held back about online shopping, i mean i guess its getting safer, but of course my parents put fear in me, told me to never do it cause i would get flushed out as soon as i do it,

but i got stuff like to support floatplane and such i would like to do, but i just wanna know if i am just being paranoid at this point and just go ahead with it, or get some protection like good antivirus and such before i go ahead

As long as you stay on reputable sites such as Amazon you should be fine. Occasionally large, reputable companies can be hacked but this is rather unlikely. So just use common sense and you should be okay. If a website is old and outdated or just looks unsafe, don't buy from it of course. Also, just as a side note, anti-virus does not protect against identity theft.

TL;DR: Just use common sense online and you will be okay (For the most part).

yess that was my idea at first , just really trusted sites and such,

 thanks for your input

There are other advantages, but in relation to what you're wary of, those are the ones that came to mind.

PayPal basically acts as a middle man, so you give PayPal your card information, then when you go to buy something using PayPal, they take the money from your account and then transfer it over to the company so you don't actually give the company your card details at any point.

As for PayPal getting money back, they're generally good at that. I've had one case when someone bought something using my PayPal account in Ukraine. Quick support ticket and obviously a password change and I had the money back within a few days.
