Array of SLI GPU's

The 16k video has got me thinking in some fairly Linus like ways.  I was wondering if you had say 8 GTX 1080Ti's lying around and a motherboard CPU combo that could handle all those PCI lanes could you make an array of 4 sets of 2 GPU's in SLI?  What sort of bonuses if any would this make?  And of course the most important, can it run Crysis?

You could but they wouldn't work together, because you need that Nvidia mosaic card for them all to work together, which I believe only works with Quadros

Theoretically, yes. With enough know how, you could SLI them all at once.

 

Bonuses? I guess you'd have less money to spend on other bad ideas.

OK, so all you need is 8 quadro GP100 cards, 9 PCI slots, 4 High Bandwidth Bridges, the mosaic card, and the motherboad and CPU to run it?
