1080p or 1440p?

1440p UW's are pretty expensive. So it would be a 1080p. Basically LG makes all the UW, the other's are primarily gaming UWs and get expensive.

If you want a cheap model you'll have to put up with the ##um58 models. The 58's are 1)flat and 2)no freesync. There are other models of the same like the ##um60, ##um68, etc. Those add more features like freesync and curved monitor. But are also more expensive.

yes that would be most suitable for my budget right now

I have the LG29UM67-P it's a great monitor but it has freesync. And while that doesn't add too much cost, you should go for the non-freesync model if you don't want it.

i like linux

it adds no cost, its more expensive because it can do 75hz, i have it running at 80hz great monitor, but i feel like i would like a bit more vertical space, seeing movies on it is great, only visible problem i had with it is that some settings make it ghost a bit

Yes, in case the OP ever wants to do a dual monitor. a 29 UW is the same vertical as a 23 inch 16:9, a 34 UW is the same as a 27, I'd guess a 25 would be the same as a 20

That varies from person to person. They make 34 UW 1080p for a reason.

I'd suggest buying used/refurnished and get a higher model than buying new and getting a lower model.

i saw the 25 in a store a few months ago, it looks like a toy, you probably have to have it super close to the face so use it properly
