I have recently bought a monoprice select mini 3d printer v2. I used the settings from this video on youtube. But i cannot get the filament to stick to the build plate and it all just bundles up.

Oh,  a common solution to that is to use painters masking tape over the build plate so it sticks better.

Yours faithfully

I have tried a glue stick but the problem is it extrudes too much at the beginning and from yjat is starts to lift everything off while moving.

Hmm, most 3D printers extrude a blob in a corner to clean the nozzle, seft test and calibrate and things like that, I bet you could tell it to extrude less at the start in the software used to ready the 3D model

ignore their instructions for bed leveling, preheat the printer, and adjust the heated bed until the print head is just barely the thickness of a post-it above the bed.

that is.. if that printer lets you adjust the print bed height.. it's one of the models i scream at people to avoid.

i'm still investigating how good of a fix that is, my usual result is that the masking tape comes off :P

I've had good results with masking tape aside from that you can use it once as it sticks amazingly well to PLA

There was a piece of paper stuck to the build plate. it looked like glossy masking tape, and it started to rip off so i decided to take it off but it is more of a challenge then i thought it would be so i was wondering if you know any easy ways to take it off. I cannot fully remove the build plate because it is heated and soldered on.

i've actually considered trying double sided tape, but it literally cant take the heat.

Brake cleaner does wonders on adhesives. It also melts some plastics...

The CHEAPEST solution I have found for PLA is to apply a light coat of Elmers Washable Glue to the printbed and let it dry. The BEST solution I have used is to get some blue masking tape and lay it down carefully. Keep in mind, the masking tape won't be the best option if you are using a heated printbed.
