Hi guys i was wondering if your in a tight budget and want to buy a graphics card. Most of the time i face a dilemma, more vram but  lower gpu performance or less vram but better gpu. A good example on the top of my head would be

the GTX 640 4 GB Vram vs the 650ti 1 GB VRAM. Which would be the better buy in different situations?

It all depends on the resolution and settings as well as the games you want to play. The most important thing is the type of VRAM. Look for only GDDR5 cards as GDDR3 is trash for gaming these days. For more information on this see this video we're a 1gb GDDR5 730 beats out a 4gb GDDR3 730 in all bench marks.

depends a bit on what games you're playing 1 gb can be awfully limiting, then again as mentioned more inferior ram is worse than less superior stuff

I would be wary of low end cards with high vram but low bandwidth, its like putting a 18 wheelers gas tank on a pinto, technically it should get you further, but you won't want to because the experience is shit. I made that mistake and I hope I can help you. Look at the used market and if you are interested, I have a Gt730 ddr3 2gb card i'd let go for $20 + shipping that can play Overwatch, Rainbow Six , Rocket league with respectable frames. I know its not the GREATEST card in the world, but it can turn unplayable games into managable and is a great first step into pc gaming.

Windows[I5 2500 3.3Ghz-3.7Ghz 4 cores 4 threads][12gbs of Samsung DDR3 1600 Mhz Ram][MSI GTX 1050 TI 4GB OC]

Apple[IPhone SE] [Imac 21.5 dual core 3 Gghz][Time Capsule 3TB]

Linux[Several laptops]
