But the problem is that I added 2GB and I am not even able to use 1GB extra?!

but.. have you or have you not set java -Xmx to a higher amount? its not because you tell java/minecraft to use X number of GB that it'll actually use it.

also, if you cant set Xmx past 1GB, that means you arent running 64 bit.

It is a TERRIBLE CPU, but I don't expect much from it :D

ignore the trolling.  what iv seen on youtube over the years, where people have documented minecraft settings, is it does not need more than 4GB of ram. When minecraft first came out i use to run it fine on a netbook's intel atom so i dont thing your CPU is any better or worse. I think you need to tweak your settings. Mine craft is not a game that requires the highest resolution settings. So here is one thing you can try, reduce it to 720p

Server

when it came out in 2008 it better be able to run on a Atom laptop.

Vanilla needs 1g, 1.5g for me

modded needs 2-4gb

modded server needs 2-6gb (18gb if infinity keeps leaking ram)

vanilla server needs ~500mb

spigot with ~50 light/medium plugins use ~1.5gb for me (1.7.2 tho)

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

so.. you refer to me as trolling, and then tell him to reduce his resolution on his *server*?

the fact of the matter is quite simple:

i have plenty of experience with running minecraft servers on terrible processors, and i have plenty of experience with the E-450 specificly, to tell OP that this is simply not gonna happen in any sort of smooth experience. the moment two people walk in opposite directions, this thing is gonna chug so freaking bad trying to load the chunks, you may as well not bother.

i agree the CPU is not the best but look at the words you are using. "you are an idiot if" and "you have no idea what you're doing".

I skim past arrogant stuff; communication is a dying science.

i have some severe doubts when someone tries to make a vanilla minecraft server use bucketloads of ram on a processor thats barely powerful enough to play a youtube video.

Please just help me, this isn't about a CPU or a Minecraft server, It's about how to get Java runtime to allocate more memory PLEASE.

(Sorry for late response, our car got broken into :( )

by using the java parameters like you have already done.

if it will actually use that amount of ram, that'll depend on if it needs to ;)

me, about 34 hours ago:

you tell minecraft how huch ram it's allowed to use, and it'll use however much it needs to, up to the amount you said.

after making sure you were on 64 bit.

yeah, it wasn't 64bit, Java is confusing and I'm really dumb.
