Hi, Im looking for a sub, amplifier and help for my upcoming audio system.

Me:

Im a 18 years old boy from Norway (Sorry for the probably bad English). Im pretty interested in tech, everything from pc parts to audio interests me, though im not very good in the audio section yet. I know most things about headphones and have spend lots of money on headphones, I love'em. But in the past months speakers and that sort of stuff have been on my radar. My interests is gaming and sports.

Stuff and specs:

I dont know why you should need this information, but I though it might help you

-PC: i5, 770 geforce gtx, 120gb ssd, 1t HDD, Descent motherboard

- Other stuff: 2 samsung monitors (21 and 24), logitech g710+, Razer deathadder, xbox 360 controller (of course)

- Audio: Byerdynamic dt770, bose qz 35, Sennheiser g4me zero, bose soundsport inear (2)

- Big desk

(As you can see no DAC or soundcard)

Why do I want to buy a audio system (if that is what it is called in english):

As a told you earlier I just wanted some speakers at the beginning (Maybe the logitech z906). But then suddenly out of nowhere my father didnt need 3 of his 5 speakers. His system consisted of 5 speakers, 1 sub, and a amplifier to 3500 EUR. So now I have 3 speakers from AE (acoustic elegance). I will attach a picture of them. They are 175 watts, 6ohm and have Middletone, bass and treble if that made any sence to you.

So what was I looking for again:

My upcoming system will be plugged into my pc. It will be used to listen to music, watch movies, videos and gaming. In the beginning I think I only have the budget for a 2.1 system. So I need your help to find a good sub, amplifier and a soundcard (Or DAC, your choice). My budget now is around 400 EUR or about 500 American dollars.

Ask me for more information if I missed something

If I/we cant find anything good I'll just buy the logitech z906

A thousands thanks!

If you can I would go with Elac speakers you will still need to get an amplifier or if you plan to use the speakers your dad gave buy an integrated amplifier.  example Topaz AM5  Onkyo A-9010

For speaker check out Mission LX-2, Wharfedale DIAMOND 220, Elac b5 or b6... you have better options for speaker choice in your budget. Here in Canada getting a Europe brand is expensive compared to living over their.

If you want decent bass I found a 5 inch to 6 inch bass driver is good anything lower and I find sub woofer is needed. For your budget get the sub woofer later down the road if you feel you need it. For movies it is almost a must to get the nice low end punch for explosions.

So you saying I should not use my fathers speakers? Not even for like a center speaker or something? Or just use the 3 speakers I get from him in the begining and change later? Because I know they sound good, and I dont need a sub with em in the beginning, though I would prefer a sub because its nice to get the bass sometimes

No I was just giving you ideas of speakers to get if you didn't want to use your fathers speakers.

If you are going to use them as 3 way. 2 for Left and right and one in the center then you will need an home theater receiver. From what I know that is the only type of amplifier that allows you to do it. Other then that you would need separate components and that becomes expensive fast.

Down side of going with a home theater receiver is most don't give true power ratings EG Denon AVR-S720W  says 75 watts into 8 ohms at 2 channels driven but when all channels driver becomes a lot less. The plus side of going with a home theater receiver is it has the codec to decode the movie audio formats.

DTS-X, dolby, atmos. Big improvement in sound when it decode the audio format. When you add a sub the format has a dedicated stream for sub woofer.

Unsure if Nexflix or other streaming sites stream the audio codec. From trying physical media and torrented Movies it will decode the DTS x and dolby.

For home theater receiver brands check out Denon, Marantz onkyo

If you mostly play games and listen to music I would skip the home theater receiver because the main benefit I found using one is the decoding of the movie audio formats. For improvement in sound better off getting a good 2 Chanel amplifier.
