System Status HUD

hey guys,

 

so im currently working on a system status monitor basically like everything thats already available. nothing fancy except i transfer it all over network to a second machine.

that machine gets all the data of the monitored system. load, temps etc. now i need a cool way to visualize it since i dont want to use plain bars for everything.

i know theres a couple of cool rainmeter skins out ther but to me most of them look pretty plain and boring.

 

so if you could design a screen for all the system data of yuor rig, what would it look like.

im happy with any creative input whatsoever if you feel like it i also invite you to design some sketches for me. thanks.

 

also depending on demand ill also be happy to share the software with who ever is interested.

 

here are some examples of data im already reading out or am planning to:

 

cpu load per core (with distinction between physical and logical)

cpu temps per core (amd apparently only offers one value for the whole package)

cpu clock per core

cpu voltage (maybe)

 

total ram

used ram 

 

mobo temps ( if available)

 

gpu load

gpu temps

gpu clock

gpu ram usage

 

hdd total space per drive

hdd used space per drive

hdd temps per drive

hdd s.m.a.r.t. status per drive

 

pump speed

water temp

water pressure (maybe)

 

general fan speed (maybe per fan maybe not since they all gonna run the same speed)

 

whatever else i can think of in the future ....

well one thing is its not gonna be very customizable. since im making this for myself im not gonna bother with "user-friendlyness" and "customizability" and such but sure im gonna post the result eventually and if you stil want it just pm me

I'm happy with it just having 2 columns of data and/or graphs that I can fullscreen on the laptop. Or pretty much anything that has at most a 5-second delay.

Afterburner does that nicely, but either I'm too dumb to figure out how to send the data over the network or it just can't be done

okay well i was thinking something more artistict and "iron man"-ish but as for the technical side im codding it myself and the network is actually pretty easy. whats harder is adjusting for all the different types of hardware.

hey i remembered you can do what you want already with openhardwaremonitor

just run a "remote web server" the options will explain how. you can even configure if and how often to auto refresh

Hm, I'll give it a try later tonight (after I get home). I've never really had too much of a good experience with OHWM, though.

Does OHWM support custom interfaces?

what do you mean by custom interface? it give an ip you can open on a second machine and like you said you wanted there will be columns of data with auto refresh as low as 1 second

I was thinking something like creating a custom integration between OHWM and Rainmeter to allow fancy pantsy graphs and bars and stuff.

ohh ok yeah well ill probably leave my own implementation of readout alone now and just use OHWM now. but yes on the client side i also still want fancy effects and shit so ill write a tool for reading out the webpage of OHWM and then display it in some cool way.

 

still i do need some ideas on how it should look like because im not gonna be able to make it super customizable

I used to have a circle-style Rainmeter skin at one point. I might have a screenshot somewhere. I'll let you know if I ever find it.

It was super clean and pretty damn visual, giving a pretty nice idea of free/used ratios and such without reading the actual numbers.

Actually it's really good now. I have it on an old S3 and mounted it in my case in a 3.5 bays so I can see all my temps in real time

I want the data output to be on a separate Windows machine (old 15.6" laptop that would be mounted into the tabletop, acting as a hardware monitor/mousepad (if I can figure out a way to have mice work fine on transparent surfaces, that is)

Runs on android so it might. But I get what you are trying to replicate and I like it. I have a pi dedicated to network monitoring so I can see current ping, download speed, and network usage.
