and when you connect to an HDMI port on your mainboard you get a picture right?

if so: you are running on your CPUs integrated graphics - consult your bios manual to change this setting.

(somewhere here : advanced --> integrated graphics)

did that GPU ever work?

does it work in another computer / on another mainboard?

is it inserted in the topmost PCIE slot? (not that it should be too important but well...)

do the fans ramp up on that card when starting the pc?

I don't have any other things to test it on but im sure its not the GPU because this issue has happened to alot of people i just dont know how to fix it

nvidia drivers are installed? if so then try this:

Yes, it's probably defaulting to the integrated graphics.

Also make sure to install all of your motherboard drivers

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B250-GAMING-M3.html#down-driver

alternatively, you can just download the live update utility for MSI off this page and it'll find the most updated drivers automatically. I actually find this more reliable on MSI boards.

and the driver for your video card

which I cannot link to you because MSI 1060 is not enough information.

There's  6 gig and a 3 gig version.

Go by the model number listed on the amazon, newegg, etc page you bought it off of to be sure.

Then update the driver with geforce experience.

Actually, reading that manual for it...

it seems peg means it's using the graphics card but I think the category has PEG next to it either way so make sure you're actually entering into the setting and changing it. Hard to say without being able to physically look at the setting.

Okay, so worst comes to worst...

Shut everything down, turn off the power switch, remove all of the cables from the back, and take your graphics card out and put it back in. Sometimes they don't sit right.

If you have trouble pushing down the tab to release the card from the PCIe slot, just use an unsharpened pencil to push down on it. Works like a charm.

And if that doesn't work, request a replacement from MSI.

thats ok then. so at least there is power delivered to the gpu. they will shut down after ramping up to max right after startup. they will turn on when needed though

Clarify for me: You do have your monitor connected to the GPU, right?

I assumed he removed it and put it back in after testing before and after the change. that's also why I didn't suggest to remove it and plug in again

ok just to make sure:

- have your monitor connected to the GPU

- have your monitor on the right input channel

- make sure the GPU sits tight in its slot

- have up to date drivers for your mainboard chipset - IGU - GPU installed

- make sure the cable you use to connect GPU and monitor actually works.

OK. Take out the GPU and connect the monitor to the integrated graphics. Go to the BIOS and find the graphics section.

we already covered this, he said integrated graphics is set to PEG and not IGD.

It's starting to get interesting though :-) either that or the biggest noobish thing nobody thought of so far.

wait.... your monitor is turned on right? :-)

on a scale of 1 to 10 how well do you know your way around hardware in general?

1 being Justin Bieber

10 being an Asus field engineer who majored in network topology and atom physics while being sad all day long because he never had sex the last 45 years and still lives at mums.
