NAS Or Cloud Solution?

Hey guys,

So for a current school assignment it's our task to aid a small business who has a 2TB HDD for there storage and is needing to upgrade there storage soon. The business is a processing publishing business so that'd be working with a lot of RAW images, videos etc and documenting these options. The business also only has an up front budget of 1000 AUD

I was wondering if some people could drop some links or some advice to some NAS and Cloud options.

And if any of you run a small business/business could you give your storage solutions and why you chose them?

Currently i found the two cloud services open drive and high tail which seem ok but i'm struggling a little with the NAS options,

Thanks to anyone who can help :)

For simplicity I'd use cloud, as long as that small business stays "small" when it starts expanding you will need a nas to be self sufficient

Yeah the business is constantly expanding and we've been told to keep that in mind

An expandable nas would be good, are you willing to build one?

I don't see any ethical or environmental issues, security is all down to OS, updating , strong passwords, and keeping the case locked.

Essentially environmental is like say you would be running off the grid using fossil fuel a cloud provider may use green energy and ethical is just does it abide by Australian laws, how is the personal information handled on the device

you could grab a few solar panels and that would make it more environmentally friendly.

I would say look into the Synology 1515+ or 1517+ as they are both expandable and provide cloud options from the nas, and if you wana expand storage you can add an expansion device. Using synology hybrid raid you could increase the size of the NAS without having to format the RAID system everytime you want to expand
