Best 1080p GPU?

MarcusLibelus

Need help here with my rig..

I'm planning to buy a gpu and I don't know which to buy

here is my system

Ryzen 1500x @ 4ghz

16gb ram

Planning to play the latest AAA games @1080p Ultra settings

I'm thinking of buying either

970 for $150(second hand)

980 for $225 to 250(second hand)

1060 for $200(yes prices are going down here in the Philippines)

1070 for $400

the 580s and the 480s are out of the question coz their crazy expensive here, around $400 to $600

or should i just wait 2 more months for vega, downside no gaming for 2 months T_T my GPU just died T_T

what are your thoughts?

In terms of best the best 1080p card would be a 1080Ti because it is the BEST single card, but the most logical card would be either a RX 580 or a GTX 1070

Dont get a 1060 unless its cheaper than an RX 580

If the 1060 is the 6gb model then the 980 should be ruled out altogether. The 1070 would be the best overall, and the 1060 would be the best in terms of price to performance.

1060 is the best GPU for 1080p gaming now. But not so in the near few months (I think). So basically I think 1070 would be the best as it will last at least 2 to 3 years (I think more like 2 years or 1 year) of gaming @ 1080p Ultra settings. After that maybe you just need to dial down the settings a bit.

theres no such thing as the best GPU, you could buy 2 titans and it woulds till ace 1080p, things will keep improving. Is the 1060 a 3GB or 6GB variant?

I suggest picking either a 1060 6GB or 1070 depending on which you prefer whether to spend more or less.

If you're looking for a 580 or 1060/70 they are becoming harder to find. Try this link for some good deals while they last.

With the 1500x I would go with a 1060. 1070 MAX. However for future I would go with a 1070.

I wouldn't discard going 980.

Still a very efficient card by todays standard and ships with more vram than the base 1060.

Nvidia: GTX 1060 (6gb only. do NOT Consider 3gb)

AMD: RX 580

Hands down.

Best and most efficient 1080p Cards when it comes to Graphic quality / Performance ratio.

Almost every game is playable in 60 fps lock in either Ultra settings, or at least High settings (since Ultra is often over the top... +1% Quality for -40% fps. Not worth in most cases).

GTX 1070 if Price is right, for more future proofing, or more "super ultra" settings.

Calculate +35-40% Performance above the GTX 1060 / RX 580~. So if the Price bump is less than 35%, 1070 gives you better Performance / Price.

A second Hand 100-130 dollar GTX 970 Custom is also not a bad choice. Yes, 3.5 gb Vram yadda yadda. But Performance for that Price is very good.

Attention: GTX 980 is okay too. BUT: Do NOT pay more for it, than for a GTX 1060. 1060 > 980. Performance is similar~ (+- 2%), 1060 has 6gb Vram, and consumes less power. And has a newer architecture. 1060 > 980 is pretty much every aspect for Gaming)

If Prices are 200 for a 1060 6gb, and 400 for a 1070, you get the 1060 hands down.

+100% price for +35-40% performance is not worth for 1080p / 60 Hz.

If it were 260 vs. 380.. yea, i would go for 1070 there maybe. ^^
