svchost.exe

Not bad and I think it's just windows services

Hi everyone,

My CPU was working while gaming at 100% while normaal at 70%/80%. In task manager I find that: svchost.exe Service Host: File History Service'' uses 20% CPU. What is this and is it bad?
Thanks!

i5 7600k is a bad CPU for today's mid and high end standards, it gets max out pretty easily so I think it is normal.

thats not the issue.

svchost at 100% isnt because the CPU is too weak, its either a windows service messed up, a program that is trying to perform a task but is poorly optimised or malware.

svchost should be using very little CPU most of the time and full CPU only at certain times like when installing windows updates, otherwise it shouldnt peak at 100% for any longer than a few seconds.

Which version of Windows do you have. If you have Windows 10, which version are you on. You can get the version of Windows by doing Win+R > type and hit enter after: winver. A pop-up will appear showing you the version of Windows.

Also, are you using File History feature by any chance? What security software do you have?

I'm sorry but I have to call bullshit. The 7600k is not a "bad" CPU, and I highly doubt it would just get maxed out during normal games at 1080p. I have a 6600k, and it does not max out just like that.

i5 6600k and GTX 1070 but I play 1600-900. 1440p BABY!

Still, don't put too much faith in my buying decisions. xD

When I play CPU intensive games (for instance The Witcher 3) it uses about 60 to 70 percent cpu usage. And when a program or whatsoever also uses 20% it is to much but further a good price x performance (I bought it when the ryzen 5 was not out)
