I want to know if you can use the seagate personal cloud with a wireless adaptor rather than ethernet. I know it sound dumb, but I don't need the speed because its only going to be used for basic stuff and movies/tv shows. I also only have 1 ethernet port in my dorm and don't really have the room/money for a switch.

Unless it specifically supports it according to the manufacturer or it's an official accessory, I'm going to guess no.  The NAS won't have the drivers or built-in functionality to properly run the wireless adapter most likely.  Now, something like another wifi range extender that also has LAN ports?  Sure, since that doesn't require the connected device to run a driver or have compatibility with anything other than standard ethernet.
