i havent included a graphics card because the prices of the amd cards and the gtx 1060 are a bit too high, i would suggest you fish around for a used 980. windows doesnt cost much at all if you look in the right place.

With a little extra, you could bump it up to 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2666 or a 1060 6GB.

whatever you do, dont get a 3gb gtx 1060, its really not worth it, if you can stretch your budget another say £100, you could probably get a used 980ti which is as powerful as a gtx 1070.

Yeah, I selected it to stay under the OP's budget. If he has a little headroom, a 1060 6GB would be the better choice.

problem is the 6gb version is pretty much out of stock everywhere you look. a used 980 should only set him back around £200 and it has that 1gb more vram.

I'd also like to add that you'll regret it if you don't buy an SSD. It improves the overall experience significantly.

I edit my posts a lot.

Or he could hunt for a 1070, it'll be supported longer and should be cheaper if you can find one.

a 1070 wont be cheaper than a 980ti, no way, unless its one of the crap blower style. a 980ti beats a 1070 in a lot of games.

Oh, 980 Ti. Thought you just said 980. Yeah, that would be good if he can spare the extra cash.

Interesting, you think the opposite way to me! :)

I would say it's easier to swap out a GPU later than to reinstall Windows on a new drive.

Also yes, I got my 240GB SSD for £50 on sale one time.

I edit my posts a lot.

meh windows is easy to install, i do get where you're coming from though, im not 100% sure if you can access files on a drive thats got windows on from another drive with windows on. something ive never read up on. i know you can dual boot off the same drive.

I can confirm that you can access files between Windows drives. I have Windows 7 on a HDD and Windows 10 on an SSD and can access the Windows 7 files through Windows 10.
