Hey  guys,

I'm into building a new desktop for myself. I dont have a budget but I don't like spending more If i don't need to. Ill mainly use it just to game. I have a macbook for video editing and stuff.

I'm having trouble finding the right pieces and hardware to have a solid build. So here are my restrictions and give me build examples with the models of each part:

1. FUTURE PROOF (ideally)

2. i5 or ryzen5

3. Dont need over clock

4. graphics minimum 1080p on ultrahigh fps60

5. SSD for OS

6. HDD storage probably a simple 1TB WD

7. cool looking ATX tower with 3.0+ in front

8. RAM no idea how much I need.... was guessing 16gb

9. RGB could be wool but idc much about it

Thanks for your build examples.

Any suggestion for modification is welcome

I've recently parted out the best price/performance pc (in my opinion) and I can show you that. However, I've put a manual price for the graphics card because of current prices, so you'll probably want to wait for the mining craze to end, or try finding a card for a reasonable price.

While the GTX 1070 performs satisfactory at 1440p right now, I think it makes sense to buy a GTX 1070 to game at 1080p for the future. This is still a good 1080p build and it stays within a reasonable budget.

Well, I guess it's up to OP to decide whether he wants a gtx 1070 or 1060. The 1070 will last him longer, but if he plans to upgrade his GPU more often then the 1060 is fine. A purchase like this will come down to your desired GPU upgrade cycle.

I'm pretty sure game developers are working on making games more optimised, rather than releasing games that are harder to run, of course, they want the wide demographic, the ideology of being 'futureproof' doesn't quite make sense to me, unless we are going through a significant change in gaming, but not much has changed in the last few years.

Sure, but that doesn't mean that the games are naturally going to become harder to run as they add new graphical features and stuff like that. Like I said it comes down to how often you want to upgrade.

I'd devote a little more the PSU to bring it up to a 600 or 650 watt, that'll give headroom for expansion and ensure that the power supply's maximum efficiency is utilized.

1070 is much better for 1080p in the long run than a 6gb 1060.
