Yeah. Suggested that, but he's got money to burn, so why not get a 6 core? He doesn't want X299 though.

Gaming performance is worse. That's why.

I would go 7700k for a build that maximizes gaming performance of 1700 for a build that maximizes multitasking.

You should be able to OC it for him. If you get a 7700K, get it to 4.8GHz or something not too high, then hand it over.

Bare copper on the heatsinnk, but nickel plated for looks. Copper is great at transferring heat.

Oh. Then get a 7700K, since it's got a solid clock speed out of the box.

Yeah. I always use it, then remove the fans and other extras to see the actual cost. Should be around $700-$800 for a full custom loop from EK. Not like it's gonna break or wear out or be crappy though.

Oh, and about parallel vs series, parallel seems to have better flow: http://www.overclock.net/t/1014950/sli-water-blocks-series-or-parallel

I'd use the config to get a general idea of what you need, then build your own list. And if you use hardline, make sure and be extra sure you have enough fittings, of all the shapes and sizes you need. I'd build the PC with air cooling, then snap a picture and use MS paint or something to plan out a rough sketch of what you'll do, then get a few extra fittings in case you need them. And make sure and plan for a way to drain the loop easily.

I just picked the Gaming Pro Carbon since it's one of my faves. You could get an ASUS though. I'll tweak the list quick once we're finished narrowing it down.

Hmmmm.  I'd just stick with air cooling then, unless it's for looks. Though Cryorig's Ultimate coolers look pretty awesome...

Ugh. Not an AIO GPU. Spoils the whole look*. I'd just get an EVGA FTW3 or STRX card (theyre neutral colors, I like the Gaming X).
