Confusion about adapters

So I've looked at this thread, but it gave more of a headache than actual information. :S

I'm currently using a laptop as my main computer, but I'm currently collecting the parts necessary to build a pc. I've bought a graphics card for an insanely low price (from $250 for $60). I figured buying an adapter would be much better than to spend $250 on another GPU. The GPU I bought has 2 mini displayport 1.2, one hdmi 1.4 and two DVI-I dual link (also supports DVI-D single) outputs. The monitor I currently have runs at 1440*900@60, and only supports DVI-D dual link and VGA (I know, it's old). What kind of display adapter would be the best option for my (soon to be) setup? (Or do I even need an adapter?) I don't care about audio, but I do care a bit about the price. Suggestions are welcome!

If your graphics card has a DVI port, and your monitor has a DVI port, then just use a standard Dual-Link DVI-D cable.

1440*900 monitor is most CERTIANLY DVI-D, single link, not DVI-DL, Dual Link.  So any DVI-D cable will get the job done.

So the other four pins are just useless, or what?

The DVI ports with four extra pins are DVI-VGA combo ports. The extra four are the VGA part of the connector.
