Please I need to know, this mining hype is destroying my plan to build a workstation. When will it stop so I can but a resnoble priced 1070?

It was on a slippery slope when the prices halved. Now the difficulty rose so it will die within the next two weeks

More specifically, China’s BTC38 will add two more trading markets this week. Both Ethereum and Ethereum Classic will be supported come July 13th. That is a major development for both currencies, to say the least. It is remarkable to note this platform was one of the few Chinese platforms not supporting ETH nor ETC

Over 20x 1060's dropped on the Aussie Craigslist (Gumtree)

Still overpriced garbage. ($350-400AUD) <-- used, and HIGHLY likely used for mining... (Selling 4-6x of them per ad)

*They do have warranty though... :P

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I just gave in and bought my strixx 1060 for 350 euros... I've searched in EVERY store in my country and everything from rx470 up to GTX 1070 is either out of stock or very limited availability.. This is my first gaming rig and damn I am impressed. I can turn most of the settings to the max in 1080p and get 60 fps so I'm happy even if I overpayed lol

1060 is plenty suitable for 1080p60, 350eur is a fair price considering its from asus (they r usually priced abit higher than the remaining comp)

Unless u intend to step up to 144-165hz gaming and/or 1440p then the 1060 would be able to manage the increased res with a few settings tuned down (unless details matter that is)

My plan for now is to upgrade my CPU, I went with a G4560 when I started building this rig (before the mining craze) and now I'm stuck with a bottleneck. This mining thing really killed off my build plan

doubt cpu prices would be affected that much. if not all, only gpus have been drastically affected afaik.

but the mining is somewhat falling down for the time being, hope things do stabilize from there.

Don't rely on Ethereum crash to "kill" all mining.

 

ZCash is on the rise, and so are other alt coins.

 

The only thing is Nvidia GPUs are king for ZCash.

 

Though Nvidia GPUs were still pretty fucking good at Ethereum, the 1070 had a higher hashrate than the RX 480 & Fury X.
