Chances are that this is not the right location for this post, but it didn't seem like a fit for the troubleshooting section. I'm off to college this fall and was wondering what the best lecture recording set up would be. While the built in OneNote audio recording feature is nice, you don't get very much control and was wondering what would be a good alternative. Also I'm searching for a nice microphone that will pick up all noises around me and would be either a small clip-on or something I could carry around and set down on my desk without it being too weird. The best thing I've found so far seems to be Snipback but I'd need a microphone to plug in to my smartphone as I don't think that the phones built in one would be enough.

I'll just drop in advice that you shouldn't bother recording lectures.  You will never have time to listen to them again and I don't think I ever encountered a class where a prof said something that was so critical that I needed to hear it later in the future.

Too be totally honest you should ask all your professors before you record them if they are okay with it. I had some that were very touchy about it and said that it is plagiarism for some reason - just a small tip since some people can be very adverse to being recorded for any reason
