You'll be hooking it up to a DAC/pre-amp/mobo via what interface? Regardless, my first instinct is to recommend JBL LSR305....

Have you heard anything about the Massdrop LSR 30X? I believe they should be just as good but only about $280 for the pair. I've always wanted a pair of these but they are kind giant and I don't really have the space for them :/

Take a look at the Vanatoo Transparent Zero (T0)- slightly more expensive but from the looks of it they might become some serious contenders in the $200-$300 price range.
