It is going to be income tax time before i can afford to upgrade my current GPU which is a R9 380.

Well i have been planning the whole time to just get a Vega chip(don't want to go Nvidia after some bad luck with them).

But i was thinking about it and i am wondering if i should get an RX Vega or i was thinking that maybe by then the mining craze will be over by then, and mabye pick up 2 used 580's.

What do you guys think?

go for the best item you can afford at the price, having favoritism limits your option.

True, unless OP wants one of AMD's technologies, like freesync.

Volta *might* be out by then, which would smash AMD right out of the ballpark. no reason to go with Vega if Volta is out.

My thing is i am really hesitant to go back to Nvidia because the last 3 times i went with them i have had problems, driver problems among other problems, and those times i was going with well known brands(EVGA and ASUS).

Wait till then and ask here again after 1 year. Who knows what will be the sicuation after 1 year with those miners.

We could either have tons of used GPUs for cheap on the market, and new ones back in stock with normal prices.

Or mining could still be profitale and you won't be able to buy any GPU at all.

Well right now it seems like profit from mining is droping pretty fast. But new crypto currency might come out that will be again a lot more profitable.

Or people could be buying GPUs and preparing for that day to come.

I don't see GPU mining going away anytime soon, but I do hope that some people will start selling those used cards for cheap once mining will get even les profitable. I expect that to happen in next few months. But those huge farms ... those won't be selling GPUs anytime soon. They will just keep waiting for new currency to come out, mine the sh1t out of it, and move to another one.
