Hello, my mum got some kind of virus on her laptop, and she asked me to reset it. I won't need a key, or? Nothing has changed inside of her computer, but it is the free upgrade windows 10 running on her PC.

I will be using the recovery method from windows own settings (not booting from flash drive etc) so do I just click "skip product key" or whatever? (If the answer above was I dont need a new key)

-Thanks

In fact, even if you format completely it should reactivate with no problem as now Microsoft saves your system "as the key". I must say both this and the reset function have proven to be really useful for me. Damn it, I feel like a console peasant, and I like it!

JK, in any case I usually log in with my Microsoft account so even if I change a major component like the motherboard, Windows is still valid as long as I log in with my Microsoft account.

the key is locked to the motherboard with windows 10 so you wont need the key again. just press activate later if it asks you

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
