I have no idea what is going on, but tldr my display went green and then went black. I cannot get display on the laptop or on my tv connected via HDMI. Can anyone help me save this without putting up with a 2+ week warranty replacement.

Edit: this initially happened from me just lifting the laptop off of my lap to put it on my desk. It is now shutting off a few seconds after I try to power it on

Sounds like a loss connection somewhere. You could take it apart and look but would void the warranty.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Sadly at this point I believe the gpu is dead, I knew I should have opened it up and fixed the rattling :/

This is an issue for macbook pros, you can have the board sent off to have the graphics chip reflowed but that can be a hastle. Its odd that it suddenly died, normally when GPUs die they take there time. I had on that was on its way out but still worked for another two years. If there are any over display connectors you could try those but its unlikely that will do anything. I hope you get it fixed and that the replacement/ wait isn't too bad.

The rattling was most likely a loose screw on the inside that caused the gpu to short like it did, would have figured a refurb machine would have checked to make sure everything was ok
