Can we use Asus Maximus IX Extreme with NZXT Kraken x62 AIO ?

Hey Guys - I recently bought Asus Maximus ix extreme motherboard and it is pretty obvious that, it is built for custom loop cooling design as it already comes with a monoblock.

But, I would like to run it with NZXT kraken x62 AIO. Any link references who has already used this board with x62 AIO ?

Would there be a problem using Kraken x62 or anyother AIO with this board ?

Cheers,

Ashish

1: The VRM wouldn't be cooled with an aio
2: Why even consider buying such a good board and don't do a custom loop

Mobo: Asus Maximus IX Hero
RAM: 32 Gigs @ 3000Mhz, Corsair Dominator Platinum
GPU: Asus Strix 1080 A8G

You wouldn't have any VRM cooling so you'd have to ghetto something up or find a dead board and attempt to put it on.

1. Agree to it.

2. I just like the build of kraken x62, so thought if I can use it with my board if possible.

wat

The vrm's are like the posideon series GPU's they are a hybird thing so you can run it without the Custom loop, but the thermals woudn't be as good

You can use it and you'll be fine but if your not custom lopping return the mobo and buy something cheaper

All VRM's have coolers on them, be it passive or liquid cooled, I would not recommend running the system without any sort of cooling for the VRM.

It's a monoblock... You take it off to throw an AIO on the CPU and you have no more VRM cooling...And if the OP overclocks (which he damn well better) then those fuckers will get hot and start limiting power output or just make the system shut off altogether...

Thanks @tmcclelland455 . Since I'm a beginner with custom loop cooling, any suggestions on good starter kit to go with this board? Like, EK Performance 240 or EK-CoolStream SE 360 etc., ?

Depends what all you're putting under water. If it's just the monoblock for the CPU + VRM, then a 240 would be fine. If you plan on throwing a GPU in the mix, ideally you should put at least a 360 in (headroom for varying ambient temps and overclocking).

I know there's sort of a generally accepted "rule of thumb" for how much radiator you'll need based on components, but I personally think starting at a 240 and then adding another 120/140 per GPU is a good idea to keep things nice and frosty.

Ok. At the moment it's just the CPU + VRM. Ll keep you posted about my build .
