Atari Announces New Console Based on "PC" Hardware

The video has now been a month old and with 1.1 million views (Time of writing this) Atari has positioned itself in a weird spot considering its last console was released in 1993 (24 Years Ago) which that old console (For comparison) is 10 years older than me.

The Console is ""Rumored" to be spotting 4K/60FPS Gaming while achieving a low price point.

But something to consider does Atari have enough RND money to be investing into a 4K/60FPS gaming box?           

I have much skepticism as much as some of us to see if this will either make Atari or put the last nail in its coffin for Console Development

shittiest way to "announce" a new product IMO ... and the fact that all we have been told about this "new thing" is that it MIGHT be on PC hardware and MIGHT be capable of 4k/60fps (i doubt it will do both at the same time tbh) 

 

but wtf are you trying to sell us, atari? a new game console? a prebuilt console sized PC? inflatable spacecraft? WHAT ????

atari has been involved in other stuff than just consoles, more specificly producing/co-producing games for other platforms, so this seems like a bit of a perfect "full circle" option for them, although i do question the 4k60 target.

 

that said, basing it off PC hardware would mean they can squeeze that R&D budget real low.

I'm confused though, is it just an emulator for old Atari games or can it play modern games? Also what exactly does this mean for Atari going forward?

If that is true it would be interesting to see how the console stacks up to the Xbox one, PS4, and Switch and whether Atari could carve out a space for themselves in the console market
