Computer unnecessarily slow

Evolution.

I know it's not supposed to be this slow b/c i've upgraded quite a few of these. It's a dell optiplex 745 and doing normal tasks is so damn delayed. I upgraded the processor to a Q6600 and the ram to 8GB idk why its being so slow also the GPU is a gtx 1050. even task manager has this glitchy thing where it takes forever to load the content

Dying HDD is my best guess. How's disk usage?

99% and every time i open task manager it crashes lmao

Yea hard drives do that which is why I got fed up and got SSDs for my desktop and laptop. The laptop had similar issues. Things would take forever to load and the disk would be pinned at 100%. Program crashes and Blue Screens became frequent. For a Ivy Bridge i7 machine with 16GB of RAM, it shouldn't be taking 7 minutes for the system to boot and be finally ready to do something. I find that reinstalling Windows sometimes fixes it. But it's a temporary fix as the issues will come back eventually.

Well Linus has proven that paired with a good GPU and enough memory, a Q6600 has enough horsepower to deliver a satisfactory gaming experience even in modern titles.

I had the problem of a HDD pinned at 100% all of the time even multiple resets didn't do anything but strangely enough giving it to my brother fixed it but when I walked over to see it goes back up

Yea grab a SSD. Even a lower end one like those AMD R7 SSDs will make a night and day kind of difference.

I only need it for the boot drive tbh not even using it as main driver, somebody paid me to upgrade it.

Most people do. So SSD for boot and frequently used applications, HDD for files and other programs.

I would if not a main driver find a 120gb ssd for cheap and get a $50 1 tb hard drive sure the times will be slow but its like archival storage sure it will be annoying when you look through the photos 3 years from now but maybe then you could upgrade to a larger ssd for storage
