What DNS server?

I've been looking at using a DNS server to improve my home network but I just have no idea which one to use. I've been using the Google DNS on one computer and static config on the PLEX server but I'd like to go for something network wide now. So I'm looking for something secure, fast (have gigabit at home) and cheap (preferably free). What are you people using the most or what would be the best for my usage scenario?

As long as I had my Linux Firewall running I had a DNS Server configured on that which cached information it got from 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 and some other DNS Servers.

 

If your provider given router has a dns function you could use that.

 

Right now I go with the 8.8.8.8 as first DNS and my router as secondary because it uses the providers own DNS Servers.
