At least in America you rent the router/modem of the ISP you have, It almost always makes more sense to use your own.

Might i ask out of my own curiosity, why is that? In Europe, or at least in Slovenia, it's not possible to rent a router lol (though we do have modem/router all-in-ones)

Because this is America. We are decades behind the world in everything basically. Besides military spending lol.

So wait, you literally rent a 50$ device? Or are we talking about rackmounted routers here for fiber bandwidths?

My thoughts are with you, Americans.... lmao

I have both my own router and modem, but a lot of people don't.

The US has like 4 ISPs. Comcast dominates the east, Spectrum dominates the west, and the other two pick up the slack in the "middle of nowhere" towns.

Yeah i read somewhere that they have a "non-written" rule/deal where they each conquest a certain area so that the ISP that's on a certain area can raise the prices as much as he likes. We need to pay like 40€/month for a 150/150 line

We pay $45/month I think for 100mbps but we get 120mbps usually since there are no other subscribers near us I guess lol.

Hi everyone,

I've recently got bell fibe 150 internet - I was wondering if the all in one modem/router they provide (The Bell 3000.?) is better than passing through and using my linksys EA6350?

thanks

I'm not familiar with Bell since they don't really offer residential internet out west, but I'd assume their modem is just as crappy as every other ISP provided modem in Canada. I'd recommend testing it out for a while, then adding your own router and asking Bell to put the modem in bridge mode. If they won't or can't bridge it, find a new ISP.
