I've got an i5-2400 and an H61M-C mobo and was planning to update its BIOS. Reason behind is that I recently bought a 1050ti and after plugging it in, there was no display. I tried the ff which ruled out any hardware problems:

1. (MOBO) - I tried my old gt730 on the motherboard and it works, there was a display.

2. (GPU) - I tried plugging the 1050ti on my friend's skylake build and it worked as well, there was a display.

3. (RAM) - I both switched RAM slots and replaced it with a different ram but it didn't work.

4. (PSU) - It's got a DE500 PSU which should be decent, but to make sure, I used my S12II PSU on my main rig as well to test it and there was still no display.

So this is the first time I've encountered this problem, each hardware works individually but not coherently (MOBO AND GPU). It made me think that could this be a BIOS problem? If so, is this the right place to get the BIOS? https://www.asus.com/ph/Motherboards/H61MC/HelpDesk_CPU/ . Just making sure since this is the first time I'm going to have to update the BIOS.

I mean it's possible but maybe a bit unlikely unless some CSM or legacy thing is happening, ASUS boards I've used have been the easiest to upgrade by far, but I've only used ROG ones.

Yours faithfully

I agree, I've went into my H61M-C's EZ Flash 2 GUI and it looked pretty simple and straightforward, I have to borrow a ups first though before attempting this. Do you have any other suspicions on what's happening? I mean I've tried changing every hardware except the CPU (which is too far fetched as far as I'm concerned and because I don't have any spare CPU to test on my board) and they work just fine individually.

The BIOS on the board should be UEFI, unless it's some hybrid, on newer boards to run older GPUs you often need the CSM to be enabled, and running newer GPUs on older boards (like pre LGA1156 day boards) you'd need a dual BIOS with a legacy enabled one, since neither are the case I have no idea, since all the hardware works, so update and see how it goes. On my ROG boards all I need to do is plug a USB flash drive with the BIOS's .cap file and hold a button, you don't even need a CPU or RAM in it.

Yours faithfully

I see, thanks so much for the info, I'll update the thread if it works or not.
