So I was doing some research and there's a dude out there selling his PC for 1150 Eur, I just wanted to know if it's worth it compared to buying stuff like https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Ricardo56/saved/#view=XvnYJx new or this (I know the advert is in Portuguese, I'll just write it all down below ._.) https://www.olx.pt/anuncio/pc-gaming-c-oferta-IDAnr3P.html#db5b887b72;promoted

His system specs:

Mobo: MSI Gaming m3 z170A

CPU: i5 6700k

Case: Nzxt H440

SSD: SSD Samsung 750 EVO 2.5" SATA III 240GB

HDD: 2Tb 7200rpm SATA 3 3.5"

GPU: GTX 980

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB 4x8GB DDR4 3000MHZ CL16

PSU: Seasonic G-650 80+ Gold 650W Modular

It also comes with a bunch of mice, keyboards, a pretty neat BenQ 144 hz monitor (Stupidly enough it's FreeSync and not G sync but I might sell the 980 and get a amd card when the prices settle down)

So if anyone could advise me as to which one I should buy I'd appreciate it :D I would, of course, ask the seller to let me benchmark the PC so no worries about that

inb4 I sell half the RAM :>

Yeah, someone with a ryzen system in need of fast RAM would pay a pretty penny for 16gb of fast stuff.  You could probably sell all the fast stuff and replace it with some aesthetic RAM (rgb?) while still gaining like 200 euro or pound

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Well the annoucement says nothing but I did go to the website from which he bought (pre built PC) and it says i7

Either way I say go for it, if its an i5 wait for the upcoming cannon lake refresh and get an 8700k (6c/12t same mobo)

Sell the RAM and get some nice looking dimms either way, you don't need the speed but there is someone willing to pay dearly to get it.

Pretty sure it's i7 but I'll get in touch with the seller :)

I'll probably sell the whole 32 gb, rebuy like 8 or 16 gb, and use the rest of the money to pay a tiny debt I had. Thanks man :D

How redundant would it be for me to ask if he overclocked the 6700k? and should i ask if he overclocked the 980?

Nah, doesn't matter unless they put on a stupidly high OC and like 0.01% of people will ever push chips that far.

Thanks. Also, I did some digging up on the whole cannonlake thing you were talking about, http://wccftech.com/intel-processor-roadmap-leaked-10nm-cannonlake-skylakee-arrives-q3-2016-skylake-muy-chips-q4-2015/ was it not supposed to launch about a year ago or...?

That's a very outdated article, Kaby lake (7th gen) dropped in Q1 of this year and the 8th gen, cannon lake will drop in Q4 or this year.
