Hello,

So I've been playing around with my cpu (specs below), and I found stability at 4.6 ghz with AIDA EXREME running for an hour.

I reached a max temp of 65oC on my cpu, and that was also overall the highest temp.

Everything was good, I reached what I wanted, but then.. uncorrectable error. Why did this happend? I even gave cpu 1.456 voltage.

And since my RAM wasn't overclocked, I do not see why it crashed. I didn't change bus speed since my motherboard doesn't show an option to change it.

Specs:

Video Card: Radeon (TM) RX 480 Graphics (8gb) (Clocked speed is 1290 mhz with memory on 2000)
Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8150 Eight-Core Processor (4.6 ghz 1.456 voltage)
Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
RAM: 2x Kingston HyperX Gen DDR3-1866 4 GB (Both are running at standard (1366 I think))

Assuming you remember to take the plastic film of I suggest you try repaying the TIM like this:

It sounds like you need to re-apply your themmal pate, i recommend doing it like this:

1- Get some arctic silver 5 , Its the best I have found.

2- Once you have taken the heat sink off, put some TIM remover onto some tissue, toilet paper will be fine, and gently wipe over the CPU/GPU/North bridge. until there is no paste left.

3- Wait 2-3 minutes

4- Wipe all the surfaces you have just cleaned with a material like your t-shirt

5- Apply a line of thermal paste in a parallel line to the longest edge on the CPU.

6- Spred it out, you want a thin layer over the whole die, making sure that you can't see the die.

7- Place the heat sink down and wait for about a minute to let the air escape

8- Put the screws back in a star like pattern, don't tighten them too much until they are all in, you don't want the heat sink to move at all.

9- Make sure that it is all tight and reassemble you computer.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

The temp wasn't a problem, I am wondering if you even read the whole thing tbh.

The thermalpaste was put on by corsair, so that is prob. not the problem.

And I am not taking it off since my motherboard is made by retards (sorry for language).

Fair enough.

oh, I put that in the wrong tread oops, I wondered why I have that .txt open, sorry. Chances are its not that stable. Dial back the over clock until you find it. Its probably that the board doesn't like over clocking or that some wired protection thing kicked in. I am also assuming you have a sufficient PSU.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Oh xD

my PSU is 750 W, and my cpu is 6 years old, it might just be that it is old and breaking tbh.

its unlikey that its age related. Sometimes windows reacts badly. Just keep trying. Overclocking can be a fine art. You can always reset the CMOS if needs be.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I tried AIDA again, this time with RAM also being stressed, this time it took 8 mins and 48 sec for Hardware failure.

So it has something to do with my RAM, but what?

They are in 1st and 3rd slot.

Take one of the two sticks out and try again then swap it for the other one. if no luck then sawp the one dime you have in the system in the other slot and then swap it again.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I am prob. going to try with a friends RAM stick as well (Yes we do know the basics of building a pc xD.

Sorry. I have been loosing track of what I reply to and get confused. I should probably re read the op and my posts first. And like @manikyath said you can never be sure that oc is stable.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

So dude, I found out my RAM sticks were overhwating, how is that possible? I never touched the timings nor speed.

What? I have never seen that before. It might be that they are on the way out. Or the board is getting too much power. Try a new set of ram next port of call would be that the memory controler might be on its way out. But that is very wired issue. Hope you can get it fixed.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
