Gaming pc build

I like the build but my question is what is wrong with my power supply? Thanks for the help.

Also can you overclock?

Nothing wrong with it, I have used it when it was on sale for a number of builds but it's 80+ bronze and is not modular. The one I linked is $4 more but is 80+ gold and is semi-modular. Yes you can overclock, if you want to get max overclock, you might need to get a different cpu cooler but you can overclock with stock cooler to a degree too. Seems like there is a stock shortage for AMD cards so you can get the 1060 version.

Hello LinusTechTips forums. I am a new member of the forums that is asking for some help for my first gaming pc build.

The parts:

Case https://goo.gl/rBqCo6

Motherboard https://goo.gl/6wwq1N

Cpu https://goo.gl/AUqymD

Gpu https://goo.gl/ZniymP

Psu https://goo.gl/h9U4S3

Ram https://goo.gl/c8wqc2

Fan https://goo.gl/i1N9Wn

SSD https://goo.gl/7AEpMV

= 1,138 USD

I wanted to know if everything would be compatible and are the parts good enough for a mid range gaming pc. I am open tp suggestions. Sorry if I did not put enough details, first time on the forums so I do not know what to say. Thanks your for the help in advance.

Here is a Ryzen build, it's a lot cheaper and will offer better overall performance in my opinion. For the case I went with the same model you picked but the non-razer since it's $30 cheaper; you can swap it for the one you picked if you prefer the razer model. For GPU I went with the Asus RX580 8GB RGB since I think it offers better price for performance and cheaper upgrade to freesync but again, you can swap it for the MSI GTX 1060 6GB if you want, it's only a $4 difference.

the EVGA 600B quality is very mediocre, not something i'd put with a 1060.

Is it worth it to get the amd ryzen 1600x? I don't mind getting it if it will work with the same build. I am kind of new to this pc building. Always bought pre built pcs. I dont know ehat build I should go for. Also thanks for answering my questions.

no, the 1600 costs cheaper, works just as well after overclocking and comes with a stock cooler.

Not really, but i think (personally) in Ryzen 7 things go different (not for 1800X)

I am getting the ryzen 5 1600x with the MSI - B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard. I need a fan to cool down this because the 1600x doesn't come with a fan. I was going to use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009VV56TY/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1_1_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

but according to pc part picker there would be a small issue. Any good fans I could get for the 1600x? @Shura

It will get the job done but will you be overclocking? if so get the 1600 since it will achieve very similar overclocks but cost less, you can use the money you save on a better aftermarket cooler or something else.

we already told you, get the 1600. it's the same thing for less and with a stock cooler that can overclock to 3.9ghz.

Ya everything will still be compatible, the 1600 is just a lower clocked 1600x with a lower TDP but both overclock the same so if you overclock, there is no reason to choose the 1600x over the 1600. The 1600 comes with a stock cooler too so you can save money there, can you list what parts you will be buying?

If your wondering why I am getting all this stuff from amazon it is because I have a 1000 dollar giftcard on my account. Also I dont have a graphics card because I want to save up for a 1080. I will use a old one in the meanwhile.

@Shura

Edit: Also any suggestions for a monitor?

You don't need 750W PSU unless you plan to add another 1080 into the system; if you are saving up for a gpu, I would save some money by going with 550W-650W. What kind of monitor are you looking for? high resolution? high refresh rate? what's your budget and finally I know you just said 1080 but if you are willing to wait a bit for vega(since you are saving up anyway), you can also look at freesync monitors(cheaper than g-sync).

I dont know much about monitors but I want a normal monitor not something too crazy that is at most 300 us dollars. I just got the 750 watt power supply because I plan on upgrading in a year or two. Also how about the build? Is that good? @Shura

Ya looks great. You really like the razer case huh, lol. I personally prefer the all black model, that way you can adjust the color scheme in the feature too, Razer version will always have the green logo so you need to always use or match with Green. Overall it looks great, did you decide between the r7 1700 and r5 1600?

You have a few options with that budget.

If you want to a large 27" screen then The Viewsonic VX2757, It's a 1920x1080p monitor with no real special features like FreeSync but a good monitor if you want a large screen. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/LjZ2FT/viewsonic-monitor-vx2757mhd

if you want a higher resolution monitor like 24" at 2560x1440p or If you do video/photo editing and want a monitor that provides accurate color production then get the BenQ BL2420PT. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/Qjp323/benq-monitor-bl2420pt

if you want features like FreeSync then:

AOC 24" https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/sh38TW/aoc-g2460vq6-240-60hz-monitor-g2460vq6

Asus 24" https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/CMCrxr/asus-vg245h-240-75hz-monitor-vg245h

Both of these have a 75Hz refresh rate; also the 27" ViewSonic above also has FreeSync.

If you want even higher Refresh Rate then This Acer is 1920x1080p but with 144Hz

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/PmyFf7/acer-monitor-umfg6aab01

Finally if you want an extra video monitor, then this LG is 2560x1080 and also has 75Hz refresh.

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/wNcMnQ/lg-monitor-25um58p

Honestly depending on your needs and preference, the type of monitor changes. Size, high resolution, high refresh rate, extra features, you'll need to decide which of these you want. If you want all of them in a single monitor, its gonna cost an upwards of $500-600

Lol I wanted the razer edition because I legit have all of the recent razer gear. Even the chroma lighting pad so wanted a case to match. As for the cpu I decided to just go with the 5 1600. Thanks for the halp, appreciate it. Wish me luck on my first pc build. (Will definitly fudge up) :)
