Is HTC VIVE worth it?

Dear Pc Elitist, I find myself in a pickle here. from the title, you can guess it's concerning the HTC VIVE. First of all, I would like to reassure you that I have a PC capable of running VR. I have an MSI 1070 GAMING X and an I7-6700K which should be able to run VR easliy. And the problem isn't expenses because I have the money for the HTC VIVE, the problem is that I think its underdeveloped and would be a waste of money and I easily could instead buy another GPU and run SLI but I don't have a 4K monitor and that defeats the purpose. Also, I am pretty convinced that the HTC is better than oculus with touch cuz VIVE is supported by steam which just strikes a fatal blow to the Oculus. Anyways the time I intend to buy the VIVE is Feb 2018 so there is still a while for it to be developed but I want help choosing between saving up or getting SLI or getting the VIVE

IMO, the vive has been out for awhile, I would say wait for a vive 2 and/or something better

to be honest, i think Vive is not worth it due it being a first gen product, wait a few years before jumping ship.

if you are planning on buying a Vive do it now, yes the vive is better than the rift.

If you want to be an early adopter, yes. I love mine and still use it every other week for a few hours at a time, mostly for horror and party games.

Personally I'd avoid it. It's so so, and I'm sure the next iteration is due to be out sooner than later.

The games are eh. I mean they're fun and all, for a short time, but most of the ones I've played feel a little unfinished. Like the devs haven't put a ton of work into them because they themselves are unsure of where the market's going.

My friend bought one and while he enjoyed it for a bit, after the first couple of months it just sits.

Wait for the wireless, higher def version. Samsung's already making next gen panels.

I'm even interested in developing for it, but I think the main wall stopping it becoming mainstream is simple: the cables. Once we get rid of the cables, VR is gonna EXPLODE.

Samsung doesn't count, I mean, it's cool, but it's really far from the quality and features of VIVE and Rift.
