An Arma 3 friend of mine has been having troubles with his FPS having a huge range. With the two of us standing next to each other on the same server I was getting about 50-60fps and he was ranging from 15-90. We fiddled with settings for awhile but he couldn't get his frames to steady out. My only thought is that my game is running from an SSD and his is from an HDD. Any ideas?

Settings we messed with

Turning Hyperthreading on/off

CPU core count from auto to manual (at 4)

Ram from auto to manual (anywhere from 6-32gb allocated)

In game settings from Ultra-Lowest  (Note this did make the frames change, but from 10-60 to 20-90)

You can see my specs in my signature and I will post his below.

Lower your view distance and shadow details and see if that helps any.

Edit: Does he experience any texture pop-in or cell loading issues?

Is the hard drive 5400 or 7200 rpm? Arma is mainly CPU bound, which surprises me that he isn't getting higher fps than you. He should check background processes and make sure everything is up to date.

Id have to walk him through how to check lol. I asked him to check background processes yesterday and he said it was just Arma and Discord using any CPU.

Yeah I said it was just Arma's terrible performance until I realized he was gettong worse than me.
