OpenCL Drivers for Ubuntu

Hello!

I've been trying to set up a computer for BOINC, it's currently running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. My issue has been that BOINC hasn't identified the GPU as something it can give tasks to. I did a little digging and found that it's that I don't have the OpenCL driver on the computer. All the guides I found on it were quite confusing and didn't really explain how one is mean to install it. If someone could tell me how you're meant to load the driver, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

yea ubuntu 16.04 will be a pain then, 14.04 will be much easier or debian 8.

Otherwise enable non-free repos and install flgrx-updates.

downgrade to 14.04

that card is old and neither Canonical nor AMD has nor will they release drivers for Ubuntu 16.04 and newer

Makes sense, since the card is 7 or 8 years old now.

"Otherwise enable non-free repos and install flgrx -updates."

I have no idea what a non-free repo is and only a slight idea as to what flgrx is. I though flgrx was for GCN cards.

Where would I find the 14.04 download in the first place?

Oh, second question. Once I do install 14.04, should it just work automatically, or is there another Radeon and OpenCL driver I still need to install?
