first build- Budget

hey all, i have $650 USD to build a computer. I've mocked up this, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/prHTf8 but would you guys change anything about it? and i know that is a pretty expensive CPU for this budget build but would it be worth it to keep that and get an ssd later? And what is a good case for this price point? Thanks for all the help!

You've basically done what I would've done, except for maybe the RAM.

 

Try getting it in a single stick (even if it costs a bit more)  so you'll have an easy upgrade path without sacrificing any already bought RAM.

alright, ill check that out. thank you. what speed should i get, is it worth spending money on anything higher than 2400?

For Ryzen, unlike most other CPU architectures, actually has performance differences based on RAM speeed, so 2400 I guess. If you're actually strapped for cash, it shouldn't matter that much.

It won't be worth it until you get a much better graphics card so I'd say no.

It shouldn't matter for a gtx 1050ti because there will be a gpu bottleneck anyways. It only matters when the cpu starts to bottleneck.

You should check out some benchmarks on Ryzen with different RAM speeds. Neither 1400 and 1050ti are fast, so any bit of frequency increase should be significant.

This is the build I'd also go for, if there was a bit more room on budget I'd go with a better PSU but you can only do so much on a budget.

The faster memory helps with faster intercommunication between the cpu cores so idk how that is going to make a huge difference for a 1400 paired with a gtx 1050ti

I don't know either. The same doesn't happen with Intel, just Ryzen somehow. The price difference is just a few dollars, so I'd pick that up anyway.
