New Ryzen chip/board

Hey all,

 

Super quick question. Would people suggest a complete OS reinstall when swapping over to Ryzen? No real issues in doing this, just curious what people think. Don't want the system to get all cocked up potentially but then I lose essentially a day of gaming :)

You could run off of your old OS. Just make sure you install the new drivers and whatnot.

I moved from an FX9590 to an R7 1700 with the same boot drive, it was working but I had some weird issues from time to time, so I eventually performed a clean install and it got resolved.

Yeah been doing some reading. Looks like it's not NECESSARY, but odds are something will get cocked up. (especially if swapping from Intel to AMD)

I'd do it. But I always do fresh installs when changing components. Doesn't affect me too much since anything I want to keep is on an external, and games are easily reinstalled.

I have about 300GB worth of games, and a 50/10 connection, haha. I'm going to try to avoid reinstalling all of that as much as possible. I moved everything on to a new 1TB drive I just bought and will only move the games I play most often back to the SSD after I refresh windows.

Haha, that's not so bad. Leave it on overnight and actually get out and do something the next day and it'll all be downloaded ;)
