Hi I currently run the system in my sig with I7 5820k@4.4Ghz with 1.3vcore with Msi Gaming 7 X99A Mobo GTX1080ti FE and 32gb 2133mhz Kingston Ram.

I am Thinking of Selling my Current CPU - MOBO and RAM and getting a Ryzen 1700 +  Asus Crosshair VI Hero or MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON With 16gb HyperX Kingston 2133mhz Kit.

My reasoning is i am feeling right now is the best time to sell my 5820k since its still strong cpu will be easier to sell and since intel will be a d.ck and wont let down prices of other cpus in x99 upgrade path best bet is moving back to mainstream of Amd without losing to much from x99 since i am definitely not going x299 or Threadripper x399 that wont need any cores more than 8 soon till games catch up.

Any Toughs ? Thanks

it would be an upgrade, you can also look for used 5960x, a ryzen 1700 would be a solid upgrade, i suggest you to get better ram.

I looked for used 5960x They are still going for 650-700 Dolars Which will be same price as Ryzen 1700 +  Asus Crosshair VI Hero Together so that is my point trying to move away from x99 platform before too late.

HyperX Kingston 2133mhz Kit

With ryzen you really want 3000 mhz+ preferably from your mobos compatability list. with intel ram speed doesn't matter but it's part of ryzens backbone

I had 64gb Ram before started selling them and the 2x8gb HyperX Kingston 2133mhz is what i will have just to get system running - will move to 3000+mhz ram if i get ryzen system but for now they will be just helpers.

Are you aching for more workload performance? If it's not an immediate need, I'd still wait for "Ryzen II" after Threadripper.

Ryzen II ? - Most of the time I come home i will get some video editing/rendering and gaming done at the same time. I can use couple more cores but not the price of a second 1080ti.

Air quotes implied AMD's next consumer platform after Threadripper. It's not a bad platform in the least, I just see it more of a sidegrade more than an upgrade. If you render a lot, that may be worth it overall.

Since switching to AMD isn't on the costly side all things considered, it's not like you're losing anything. Either way, fast ram if you do go for Ryzen.

Ok Update - I just ordered myself a new

Ryzen 7 1700 CPU

(Because I Always get the Cheapest of Series and Overclock to limit)

ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero

(Because of The AM3 Holes on The Motherboard Thanks Asus - Don't need to wait for the AM4 Bracket H115i to Never become Available)

Kingston HyperX FURY 2666MHz DDR4  HX426C15FBK2/16

(Compatible with Mobo and Can easily Be Overclocked to 16-18-18-37-2T  3200MHz 1.4v)

And The Most important Piece of all. AM3 BACKPLATE

Hopefully will get the mobo and cpu Tuesday and be installing over weekend.

All i want to say now is Good By Windows 7 You will be Missed...

If u wanna ditch x99 before its to late a 1700 at 4ghz on a crosshair hero 6 and some 2933/3200hz ram will upgrade you to a none dead platform, there shouldn't be a great deal of a difference in gaming and a decent upgrade in everything else

AMD (and proud) r7 1700 4ghz-

also (1600)

asus rog crosshairs vi hero x370-

MSI 980ti G6 1506mhz slix2 -

h110 pull - acer xb270hu 1440p -

 corsair 750D - corsair 16gb 2933
