One of the best things you can do is go for GPU-based video encoding.

This is what I use on my 7850 for 720p60 recording. Considering that you have a GTX 1080, you can probably ramp up the bitrate to 20000kbps at 1080p60 easily. Just make sure the encoder is set to NVENC or whatever the Nvidia cards use.
