Another possibility is the 7700k with a 40$ or less air cooler. Would this yield uncomfortable thermals or would i be fine for what i am doing?

Id get the cpu first, then see how the temps and noise are, if you want it better, spend the 40.

I want to get either the i7 7700 or the K edition. I will not be overclocking, but my total budget is 380 and if i get the non k, i wont have to buy a third party cooler. is the extra 30 and new cooler worth it? Or should i just go with the non k? My absolute top budget is 430.

I have an lga 1151 gigabyte h110m-s2h. I also have a skylake cpu so i can bios flash. AMD isnt an option. My needs are gaming, recording, autoCAD, and adobe PP.

id get a 7700k, the extra clock speed is worth it. also  you can just use your old cooler.

I have a stock intel cooler for my i3. I also think the extra clockspeed is worth it, however i have been reading lots of stuff saying that you need something like a noctua d-15 for an i7 7700k. not sure if thats true, but if it is i might not be able to go with the k variant

stock cooler will work fine, it will run a bit hot, but won't overheat.
