ok i had windows 8 and ubuntu on dual boot

my ram was out for replacement so i gave an 4 gb hard drive space as swap to ubuntu

and  350 mb was used by windows 8

and now when i installed windows 8.1 from disc !

it installed fine but the swap folder of 4 gb and 349 mb partitions are still there !

i tried windows disk management to delete them but

i can only delete the 4 gb one for some reason and still can not merge it with other drives

and i can not delete the 349 mb one for some reason

i also tried other software's like EaseUS Partition Master etc i had the same problem with them too ....

http://prntscr.com/26gb5x

please help !

if u can teamview and fix it i would appreciate it thanks ...

thanks in advance :)

I assume you are using windows 8 to do the disk edit.

if you uses boot disk, not running from the drive you will be able to do anything to the disk. be warned though generally if it wont do it in the os and you do it outside the os it can stop the computer booting and you may need to replace the MBR.

so if you can take a system image first if you can.

im not sure about windows8 and 8.1 but windows7 creates a 100mb bootloader partition if you just install os on a partition that might be it

If it wont let you it probably wont do it without screwing up the boot.   All these partions are on the same disk?

Windows sometimes goes nuts (during the install and puts the boot record in odd places like usb drives or 2nd hd attached to the system , it may have some dependance to disk partitions somehow.

The next step is to try something like the "heron boot disk"  it will defiantly let you edit the disk but in my experience it will perven the os from booting if you expand/delete partions when the os wont do it.

a screen shot from inside the disk manger would be helpful.  do you just want the drives to go away? or do you need that 4gb back.  as you can remove drive letters for those partions.  problem not solved but hidden.
