Hyper X Cloud II vs. Sennheiser HD 598 Cs

So I'm in the market to upgrade my overall sound. I currently have a stock sound card running with my Hyper X Cloud II.

I'm interested in upgrading my sound card, purchasing an amp, and upgrading my headphones. I would like to stay on a budget under $300 and get the absolute best sound I can get. I would be using them for editing, watching video, listening to music, and gaming.

These are the upgrades I'm interested in:

Sound Blaster Z PCIe Gaming Sound Card with High-Performance Headphone Amp and Beam Forming Microphone

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009ISU33E/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Bravo Audio V1 Tube Driven Headphone Amplifier

My questions are,

(Is it worth it?)

(Will it be that much of an upgrade?)

(Any other suggestions? "Different Headphones, Amp, Soundcards, etc...")

Thanks,

- Alex :)

Okay,

why do you want that Soundblaster?

Why not open back headphones? Normal HD598s for example.

I would get a Schiit Fulla 2 and neither of the two you listed.

Gives you 200$ budget for the cans. You could try to join the HD6XX drop tomorrow on Massdrop.

no. That sound card has headphone out, you want line out (which it might have) if you are using an external amp.

also, that tube amp isn't good. Neither is the sound card

Thanks for the feedback! I'm going fo the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX "$250". I want to stay under $300, should I get the Schiit Fulla? Or do I need to go with the Fulla 2?

Schitt Fulla    - $59

Schitt Fulla 2 - $99

afaik the Fulla 2 is quite a bit better so i'd go for the $49 extra.

But come back to my initial question, do you need it to be closed? Because the 6XX will leak a lot of sound and let it all in aswell.

Yes, they are open-back. I work in a relatively quiet environment and I don't think that would be a problem. However, would you recommend closed-back over open-back? If so, what closed-back headphones would you recommend?

I am also interested in the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x. What do you think?

Yeah open back is generally better when you have no noises around you.

I wouldn't get the M50Xs you are way better of with the 598s.

So either 598+Fulla 2 or 6XX with Fulla 2 if you want to spend the money and are fast enough lol.
